Southington-State Senator Joe Markley (R-16) and State Representative David Zoni (D-81) announced that they will be hosting a reunion for graduates of Milldale Elementary School on Saturday, July 18. The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at 34 Clark Street, Milldale, the former site of the school.
The legislators are both graduates of the school which was disbanded in the early eighties. Physical education teacher Marcia Phelps, and Southington Fire Chief Buddy Clark, also Milldale graduates, will join the legislators in hosting the event.
The Milldale School operated in Southington from 1921 to 1980, but it was demolished in 1996.
“Milldale Elementary was a special place,” Senator Markley said in a release from the state democrats. “The teachers there laid the foundation of my education, and I made friends who I still have to this day. We were all sad to see it close in 1996, but this reunion is sure to bring back fond memories and rekindle old friendships. I hope everyone who can attend, does attend.”
