Southington Public Schools recognized 14 recipients for the Profiles in Professionalism award. Announced on May 2, the honorees for the 2015-2016 school year were recognized by the Board of Education (BOE) during a meeting on May 12.

Earlier this year, each school building and department within Southington Public Schools was asked to select someone to be recognized. Faculty and staff put together biographies for their chosen peers, which were read during the award ceremony.

Superintendent of Southington Public Schools Timothy Connellan said the annual awards allow the town to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to help students.

“This is a way of—at the very least—acknowledging these individuals and saying thank you for what you do,” said Connellan.

On May 12, the administrative team individually recognized each recipient, and BOE Chairman Brian Goralski presented each with a certificate.

The following individuals were recognized: Brian Durbin from Southington High School; Bethany Rosin from Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School; and Jodie Rogala from John F. Kennedy Middle School. From the elementary school level were Marianne Sabato (Derynoski); Nancy Bealieu (Flanders); Brenda Carrier (Hatton); Krista Stiebel (Kelley); Regina-Julie Albee (Plantsville); Linda Iverson (South End); John DelSanto (Strong); and Melissa Kennedy (Thalberg).

Amy Kosienski was recognized from the ALTA program; Victor Baldwin from the maintenance department; and Catherine Sheldrick from the central office.
