Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School announced their Students of the Month for March.
In sixth grade Landon Colby, Ashna Menta, and Shane Sullivan were selected by their teams.
Landon is the son of Douglas and Krista Colby and received the Presidential Award last year at Kelley Elementary School. He is part of STEPS and volunteers at the Calendar House with DePaolo’s leadership program. Outside of school, Landon is on the YMCA swim team.
Ashna is the daughter of Minaxi and Naupesh Mehta and received the perfect attendance award for both 4th and 5th grades. She is a community service volunteer, involved in young authors, and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival. Ashna plays basketball for the town.
Shane is the son of Debbie and Kevin Sullivan and received the Presidential Award in elementary school. He volunteered for the Mill Foundation and participated in the math Olympiads. Shane played on the school soccer team.
In seventh grade Stephanie Wills, Veronika Gorski, and Dhespina Hilaj were selected by their teams.
Stephanie is the daughter of Kerry Wills and Diane Wills and was recently inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. She volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival and is a part of the Asset Building Classroom team at school. Stephanie plays soccer for the town.
Veronika is the daughter of Tadeusz and Iwona Gorski and has consistently been a high honors student. She volunteers at Immaculate Conception Church, is a community service volunteer, and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival. Veronika is in the National Junior Honor Society and is in Con Brio.
Dhespina is the daughter of Irma and Engjell Hilaj and was recognized twice at the Principal’s breakfasts. She is in the young author’s club and received the rising star award in karate.
In eighth grade Kelsie Downey, Jake Neuman, and Natalie Pare were selected by their teams.
Kelsie is the daughter of Karen and Gary Downey and is in the National Junior Honor Society. She is a Girl Scout and volunteers at her dance studio to help the younger girls. Kelsie is a cheerleader for DePaolo and is part of the leadership program and drama club.
Jake is the son of Joanne and John Neuman and was recognized at a Principal’s breakfast. He volunteered to ring the bell at WalMart for the Salvation Army and is involved in his youth ministry. Jake is in the leadership program and plays on the school baseball team.
Natalie is the daughter of Sophia Pare and Carl Pare and has consistently been an honor roll student. Natalie is a cheerleader for school and participates in ABC activities for STEPS.
In Unified Arts Alana Wherry, Alex Partyka, and Anjali Thakkar were selected.
Alana is the daughter of Christina Hart and Chris Wherry and was recognized at a Principal’s Breakfast. Alana is in the young author’s club and the environmental club at school. She is an honor roll student.
Alex is the son of Alex and Laurie Partyka and has consistently been an honor roll student. He volunteers each month at a preschool in Wethersfield and is a part of the DePaolo leadership program. Alex plays on the school basketball team, ran on the school cross country team, and is a part of Mathcounts.
Anjali is the daughter of Beena and Rajeev Thakkar and was recognized at a Principal’s breakfast. She is a community services volunteer and assists at her dance school. Anjali is a competitive dancer and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival.
