DePaolo Middle School announced their Students of the Month for January.
In sixth grade Alexander Maindon, Gillian Smith, and David Laszewski were selected by their teams.
Alexander is the son of Richard and Lisa Maindon and received the Presidential Award last year at Flander’s Elementary School. He has volunteered at a food bank at his church and at Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Apple Harvest Festival. Alexander plays basketball, baseball, and football for the Town.
Gillian is the daughter of Brenda and David Smith and received the CT Association of Schools Outstanding Arts Award last year. She is in the newspaper club, plays in the school orchestra, and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Apple Harvest Festival. Gillian plays travel softball and has studied Irish step dancing for 6.5 years.
David is the son of Katarzyna and Wojciech Laszewski and is an honor roll student. He ran on the school cross country team. David is involved in his church and attends Polish school.
In seventh grade Alina Rivera, Kayla Pelletier, and Audrey Cantillon were selected by their teams.
Alina is the daughter of Richard and Kumari Rivera and was recognized at a Principal’s Breakfast. She is active in her church’s youth group and has assisted at her church’s food pantry. Alina played on the school volleyball team, is in the concert choir, and is part of the Leadership Program.
Kayla is the daughter of Julie and Rob Pelletier and is in the National Junior Honor Society. She is a Nutmeg State Games gold medalist for softball and is a competitive rock climber. Kayla is part of the Leadership Program and volunteers at the Calendar House.
Audrey is the daughter of Kelly and John Cantillon and is in the National Junior Honor Society. She is a Calendar House volunteer in the Leadership Program and plays on the school softball team. Audrey plays softball and soccer for the town.
In eighth grade Cassie Dubitsky, Era Pasha, and Anh Tran were selected by their teams.
Cassie is the daughter of Jillian Connelly and Richard Dubitsky and is in the National Junior Honor Society. She is in the drama club, concert choir, orchestra, and ran on the school cross country team. Cassie also volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Apple Harvest Festival.
Era is the daughter of Elsa and Artur Pasha and was recognized at a Principal’s Breakfast for Academic Achievement and Citizenship. She is in the National Junior Honor Society, is a peer advocate, and sings in the concert choir. Era is on the school basketball team and played volleyball at DePaolo as well.
Anh is the daughter of William Tran and Chi Lam and is an honor roll student. She is in the National Junior Honor Society and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Apple Harvest Festival. Anh is part of the yearbook club and stock market club.
In Unified Arts Adrianna Patton, Alyssa Cleland, and Owen Folcik were selected.
Adrianna is the daughter of Nicole Kollanda and was recognized for citizenship at a Principal’s Breakfast. She has participated in the Relay for Life and the Bark for Life for the Humane Society. Adrianna is a library assistant, is in the newspaper club, and the chess club.
Alyssa is the daughter of Dennis and Michelle Cleland and has consistently earned high honors. She assists at the vacation bible school for her church and is a library assistant. Alyssa ran on the school cross country team.
Owen is the son of Mark and Stacy Folcik and is an honor roll student. He volunteers every year at the pumpkin patch at St. Paul’s Church and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival. Owen is a Boy Scout in Troop 45 and is in the golf club, movie club, and Lego club.
