WILLIMANTIC—A number of Southington students were honored by various departments at Eastern Connecticut State University during year-end banquets.

Two locals were selected for induction into the Delta Omega chapter of Delta Mu Delta, the National Honor Society that recognizes outstanding students in business administration, accounting, and business information systems. Membership in Delta Mu Delta is an honor indicative of earnest, intelligent purpose and rewarding achievement, the goals of the honor society.

Karolina Chrzanowska (accounting) and Lauren Mahon (business administration) were selected for membership.

Chrzanowska (Class of 2015) was also among a list of several outstanding students to be presented awards by administrators, alumni, faculty, students, and friends of Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) in an event sponsored by ECSU’s Accounting Society, the student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, and Accounting Professor Moh’d RuJoub.

Chrzanowska was presented with the Founders of Accounting Award.

Two Southington students were honored by the ECSU biology department when they presented the annual awards for students who achieved excellence in academic excellence, research and as teaching assistants.

Elizabeth Del Buono (biology) received an award for Quality Performance as a Teaching Assistant Within the Biology Department.

Weronika Lewkowicz (biology) received an award for Academic Excellence.

“Honors and award programs provide a meaningful opportunity to publicly recognize and celebrate student achievements in scholarship, research and service,” Biology Professor and Chair Gloria J. Coluso said in a school press release. “They demonstrate that success is possible and motivate all of us to keep moving forward.”

In addition, Michael Cipollone (accounting) was inducted into ECSU’s Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honor Society.

Omicron Delta Epsilon is an international economics honor society. The organization’s primary goal is to foster and stimulate discourse regarding economics among university level students. Students must be involved in the economics program and have at least a 3.0 GPA in order to become a member.
