House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz (D – Southington/Berlin) and Representative David Zoni (D – Southington) hosted Jenny Magnoli, a student from Southington High School, at the State Capitol in Hartford. Magnoli was presented with a citation for winning the 2015 Connecticut VFW “Voice of Democracy” essay contest. Each year, nearly 38,000 high school students from across the country enter to win a share of the $2.2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the VFW’s Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition. As Connecticut’s first-place winner, Magnoli received a $1,000 scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
